To me, bikers are the worst of both worlds. They have the potential to kill someone (if you think getting hit by a biker going 30+ mph can't kill, you're an idiot), they are fast, they are quiet, and they can pop out of traffic with no warning. But, they also have a pedestrian's sense of entitlement, and feel like "the rules don't apply to them", cherry-picking whichever rules of the road and rules of the sidewalk they feel are most advantageous to them at any time. Yeah, you get to class quickly. Yeah, a bike is cheap. Yeah, your "carbon footprint" is low. it still doesn't make you any less of a self-centered jerk when you blow past me when the light's red in front of Warren, popping out from next to the 57 bus where I can't see you, and toss me the bird when you zip by six inches from my face. Whatever.
